Review of "One Shot" by Lee Child
In a small, dusty town in Indiana, on a hot afternoon, five people are gunned
down by a sniper. Plenty of evidence is left behind, and it all points to one
man: James Barr. When Barr is arrested, he asks for Jack Reacher. Reacher
can't understand why Barr wants his help. While in the military, Reacher
investigated Barr for virtually the same scenario. But as Reacher begins to look into
the case, the evidence seems too well-placed. The more Reacher investigates,
the more the case falls apart. When witnesses disappear and/or are murdered,
Reacher becomes more determined than ever to find the reason behind the
killings.
This is the first book I've read in the Jack Reacher series and I have to say
I find Jack Reacher to be one tough dude. There's something appealing about
this rugged guy who never stays in the same place for more than a few days and
wears his clothes until they aren't fit for the climate or fit to be worn,
then buys another set. Reacher is a smart investigator who's confident in his
ability to take on the bad guys, and I find his slightly eccentric nature
refreshing.
