THE BODYGUARD AND THE SHOW DOG is a laugh a minute story in the best Janet Evanovich style. The situations that Natasha finds herself in are hilarious, her attempts to balance her career and her relationship are the makings of an Emmy winning sitcom. Ms. Tillery French's Bodyguard series is one that will have you laughing and cheering Natasha's bid for independence even as you feel complete sympathy for Jonce's quest to keep her safe from herself. A wonderful book for an afternoon read.

OTHER TIPS: June 2006

Health and Beauty: If you're like me and trying to make every dollar count, the cheapest moisturizer in the world is baby oil. After a shower or bath, while your skin is still damp, apply baby oil liberally to your body. If you can, allow your body to air dry. If not, gently pat dry. You'll be amazed at the compliments you'll receive over your soft skin. I guaranty this one!

Cooking: I'm known for my spaghetti. My kids, who are now grown, swear by it and would rather have my homemade spaghetti than any restaurant's. Plus, it is so easy and cheap to make. And if you need references, I can provide 'em.

  • Spaghetti sauce: brown one pound of hamburger; drain oil; add one, 10.75-oz can of tomato soup and one, 8-oz can of tomato sauce; sprinkle with garlic powder and oregano; Simmer 10 minutes

  • Bring large pot of water to a boil and add spaghetti noodles; Let boil for 10 minutes, then drain.

  • Add the sauce to the spaghetti, stir together, and wah-lah! Easy spaghetti.

The second installment in The Bodyguard series finds protection specialist Natasha Chamberlain self-employed and happily involved with her former boss, Jonce Striker. Natasha's first case centers around Chumley, a champion show dog. The squat Pug has been sent a death threat regarding his participation in an upcoming event.

Although Natasha initially thinks there isn't much danger connected with protecting a canine, she soon finds that isn't the case when she ends up in the emergency room several times. Meanwhile, she drives Striker crazy with her zany, unorthodox attempts to unmask the extortionist.

As the suspect list grows, Natasha finds it increasingly difficult to balance her new business with her increasing love for Striker. Likewise, Striker sees the investigation growing wackier and more dangerous by the day. His time is spent between trying to convince Natasha that the bodyguard business is too dangerous and deciding how he can persuade her to marry him.

Will Natasha find the culprit before it's to late? Will Striker find a way into Natasha's heart? This romantic comedy will have you turning the pages to find the answers.
